Copy with Base Point

Copy selected entities to the Windows clipboard and select a point about which to paste the selection.

First select the entities you want to copy to the Clipboard. Then indicate a point about which to paste the entities.  The selected entities are copied to the clipboard in both an internal and image format.

The entities on the Clipboard can be pasted back into the same or another drawing using the Paste function [Ctrl+V].

Procedure

To copy a selection set with a base point and place it on the Clipboard:

  1. Select the entities to be copied.

  1. Select the parts you want to Cut by clicking on them or dragging a selection box around them. You can also use the standard selection functions, including Select All, Select by Polygon, Select by Filter and Invert Selection, to create the required selection of entities you want to save.
  1. Select Edit ► Copy with base point or click the icon in the Main toolbar.

  2. You are prompted to:

Indicate base point

  1. Position the cursor over the base point and press [Enter]  or click to indicate the point.  Use the snap or jump functions to indicate the point accurately. The selected entities are copied to the Windows clipboard.

  1. You can now use the Paste function to insert the selection where required. You are prompted to:

  1. Use the snap or jump functions to indicate the paste base point accurately. Press [Enter] or click to insert the selection.

  1. Press [Esc] to deselect the selection set.
