Load SHP File

Import SHP file entities into the current drawing. Each SHP file contains only one entity type, such as points, lines or polylines. The text (database) attributes associated with each SHP file element can be loaded as text items or as a linked database.

The imported drawing entities will be created in the current layer.

Procedure

  1. Select the SHP file to be loaded from the Open options.

  1. If the program picks up that the shapefile coordinates are geographic coordinates, i.e. Lat-Long, it displays the following message.

  1. If you click Yes you will be able to configure the projection settings.

  1. Set these up according to the origin and whereabouts of the shapefile and click OK.

  2. The Drawing Settings display after the system has read the coordinates of the SHP file.

  1. Set up the drawing scale, units and paper size and click OK. A window displays allowing you to select which attributes to import, and if you want them to be displayed as text entities or to create a linked data file.

  1. You can import polygon data as filled polygons or closed polylines.

  1. If you click Yes to select polygons, you are asked to specify the fill colour of the polygons.

  2. The data is imported in the current pen and line style into the current layer.
