TERRAINELEVATIONTRACK

This function allows you to dynamically track the elevations on one or two surfaces, as the mouse is moved over the project. When tracking elevations on two surfaces, the height difference between the tracked elevations is displayed in addition to the elevations themselves. While moving the mouse, a left click has optional behaviour for dropping the tracked information as text in the drawing or to the Output Manager.

Procedure

  1. The Elevation Tracking options display.

  1. Select the base surface and optional second surface, and then click OK. As the cursor is moved over the terrain, elevations are interpolated from the selected surfaces and displayed in the window.

  2. When tracking a single surface, the following information displays:

Surface 1 height = 1561.000

When tracking two surfaces, the following information displays:

Surface 1 height = 1560.907 : Surface 2 height = 1562.000 : Diff. = 1.093

  1. If you chose Insert a new point, click to insert a new DTM point.

  2. The Point Details display.

  1. Fill in the relevant details and click OK.

  2. If you chose Add text to drawing, click to add a single line text entity to the drawing at the click position.

  3. The text will be drawn with the current colour, layer and text style settings. The value of the text will depend on whether Terrace surface is checked or not. If checked, the value will be the comma separated heights for the base surface, terrace surface and height difference. If not checked, the value will be the height of the base surface.

  4. If you chose Output information, click to send the tracked information to the Output Manager.

  5. The information printed will be the click position and base surface height. In addition, if terrace surface is checked, the terrace surface height difference will be included.

  6. In the right-click context menu, Finish will return you to the dialog. Alternatively, select Quit or press [Esc] to exit the function.
