Cut and rub a part of an entity.

Modify

This function allows you to cut and remove a portion of an entity by selecting the entity to cut and rub and then indicating the two points at which to cut and remove the portion between the indicated points.

For a circle or ellipse entity, the part cut is from the start point to the end point and through the selection point indicated.

Procedure

To cut and rub portion of an entity away:

  1. Select Modify ► Cut & Rub or click the icon in the Modify toolbar.

  2. You are prompted to:

Indicate entity to cut+rub

  1. Position the cursor near the portion of the entity to remove and then press [Enter] or click. The selected entity is highlighted.

  1. You are prompted to:

Indicate start point of rub

  1. Position the cursor at the point in the drawing to start the rub, and then press [Enter] or click. Use the jump or snap functions to indicate the point with accuracy.

  1. You are prompted to:

Indicate end point of rub

  1. Position the cursor at the point in the drawing to end the rub. Use the jump or snap functions to indicate the point with accuracy.

  1. Press [Enter] or click. The indicated portion is now removed.

  1. The function repeats and you can select the next entity to cut and rub.

  2. Right-click select Quit to end the function. Alternatively, press [Esc].

  1. If you indicated the circle at a point outside the two angled lines as shown below...

...then selected the same two cut and rub points, the arc between the angle lines would remain and the larger portion deleted, as shown below.
