Two Line Intersection

Calculate the point where two lines intersect.

This function allows you to calculate the point where two lines intersect.

You must select two points on each line. The intersection point is calculated, and its coordinates display on the screen. You have the option of adding the point to the database, or cancelling the operation.

In the diagram below, the user clicks on the circled points and the point in the box is calculated.

Procedure

  1. You are prompted to:

Line Intersection: Snap on line 1 start point

  1. Click on the first terrain point.

  2. You are prompted to:

Line Intersection: Snap on line 1 end point

  1. Click on the second point to define the first line.

  2. You are prompted to:

Line Intersection: Snap on line 2 start point

  1. Click on the first point of the second line.

  2. You are prompted to:

Line Intersection: Snap on line 2 end point

  1. Click on the second point to define the second line.

  2. The Line Intersect options display. Make a selection as from which line you want the height for the intersection point interpolated. If neither, you will still have a chance to overwrite the value.

  1. Click OK to continue.

  2. The Point Details display.

  1. Fill in the relevant data and click OK.

  2. The function continues in a cycle prompting for a line 1 start point.
