Description |
Minimum slope |
Enter the lower slope limit to be used when calculating the ramp. |
Maximum slope |
Select this option and enter the upper slope limit to be used when calculating the ramp. |
Ramp interval |
Select this option and enter the interval between successive slopes, starting with the specified minimum slope, to be used when calculating the ramp. |
A one-in-one slope is a 100% slope, a one-in-five is 20%, etc. Steeper than 45ø is greater than 100%. A vertical slope is undefined and cannot be seen in 2D. Set the minimum and maximum slope values accordingly. A minimum of zero and maximum of 100 will shade all slopes less than 45ø, and this should suffice for most sites.
Each triangle has its slope calculated from the angle between the face of the triangle and the horizontal plane. It is not merely the difference between the highest and lowest elevation of the triangle over the horizontal distance, but rather along the direction in which water would flow. That direction can be seen if you switch on slope arrows.
