This Snap Mode snaps to the nearest point so the entity being drawn is perpendicular to the entity snapped to.
The following entities can be snapped to in Perpendicular snap mode:

Polylines

Lightweight Polylines (without bulges)

The following draw functions support Perpendicular snap mode:

Draw Lines Chained/Point-to-point

Draw LW Polyline (line edge type)

This mode is usually suspended when you start drawing an entity, and is re-enabled after the first point has been entered.
