Error Figure

Process Error Figure data from the spreadsheet.

This function allows you to produce an error figure plot that enables the point to be fixed graphically.

The plot is auto-scaled so it is quite easy to do three or four error figures in quick succession to hone in on a final solution. Results virtually as good as the least square solution can be achieved in this way.

Procedure

1. You are prompted to:

Indicate point position

2. By default, on the screen plot:

   • A line normal to the direction of a measured distance is drawn with Pen 5.

   • Outward rays are drawn with Pen 3.

   • Inward rays are drawn with Pen 4.

The cross in the screen centre represents the provisional position of the station.

3.  Indicate the correct position with the cursor.

4. Once a position is chosen, a listing of the results is printed with the residuals.

5. Confirm the calculated coordinates for the fixed station. Click Yes to have the provisional coordinates updated to the calculated coordinates; or No to retain the current point coordinates.
