Import LandXML

Import LandXML design data.

This function allows you to import LandXML data into the current model.

The LandXML format is a convenient and industry supported means of information interchange. Unfortunately, it is not suited to handling large amounts of information because of the amount of string manipulation that is performed. Where really large data sets are concerned, we recommend using the standard ASCII YXZ format over LandXML.

You must set up a blank data file in the Project Settings for each type of design data you want to import from the LandXML file.

Procedure

1. The standard file open window displays.

2. Select the XML file to be imported and click Open.

If you have not set up the required project files, the following error message displays and the function is terminated.

3. The LandXML Import Options display.

4. Select the project items to import and click OK. Bear in mind that a data item is only imported if a blank file of that type has been specified in the Project Settings.

Importing DTM Data

1. If you are importing DTM data, the following Confirmation message displays the data extents.

2. Click Yes to import the data; or No to terminate the function.

3. If you click Yes you are asked to allocate a surface for each surface defined in the XML data set.

4. The DTM data is imported to the specified DTM surface.
