Chamfer

Chamfer the edges of two non-parallel line entities.

Modify

This function allows you to chamfer the edges of two intersecting entities by specifying two lengths or one length and an angle.

The indicated line entities must be coplanar and are automatically trimmed.

Procedure

To add a bevelled edge to two intersecting lines:

  1. Select Modify ► Chamfer or click the icon in the Modify toolbar.  

  2. You are prompted to:

  1. Specify if you want to chamfer by two lengths or by a length and an angle.

Chamfer by Two Lengths

  1. Select the Length2 option.  

  2. Type in the lengths of the two chamfer points in the text boxes.

  1. Press [Enter] or click Enter.

  2. Position the cursor near the first line entity in the drawing and then press [Enter] or click to indicate the entity to chamfer. The entity is highlighted.

  1. You are prompted to:

  1. Position the cursor near the second line entity to chamfer to, on the side to keep, and then press [Enter]  or click to indicate the entity. The chamfer is added and the lines are trimmed.

  1. The function repeats.

Chamfer by Angle

  1. Select the Angle option.

  2. Type in the length and the angle of the chamfer and then press [Enter] or click Enter.

  3. You are prompted to:

  1. Position the cursor near the first line entity in the drawing and then press [Enter] or click to indicate the entity to chamfer. The entity is highlighted.

  1. You are prompted to:

 

  1. Position the cursor near the second line entity to chamfer to, on the side to keep, and then press [Enter] or click to indicate the entity. The chamfer is added and the lines are trimmed.

  1. If you select the Polyline Chamfer checkbox, you can chamfer polylines. The chamfer is applied to all the polyline corners.  

  2. You are prompted to:

  1. Position the cursor near the Polyline entities and then press [Enter] or click to select them.

  1. Right-click and select Quit to end the function. Alternatively, press [Esc].
